Who are we?

We are Richard and Mavis Gulliver, directors and employees of a small limited company with considerable conservation expertise. Our surveys and conservation biology projects for Scottish Natural Heritage and Scottish Water include orchids, juniper, otters and freshwater pearl mussels. Richard taught the Open University Ecology course, was Education Officer for The North York Moors National Park and is a Fellow of the Linnean Society. Mavis has a lifelong experience in teaching and natural history.

Why did we become an MMBEN supporter?

We are keen to interact with businesses and individuals who are interested in the environment and in our experiences. Our talk about The Botanist Gin is multifaceted and includes elements on juniper conservation, man-plant-environment relationship and a personal dimension to a business success story. Other talks are based on our lifelong interest in natural history, our conservation experiences and our life in The Hebrides.

We wish to capitalise on our conservation experience, by offering services directly to businesses and/or in partnership with Shropshire Wildlife Trust.

What has your business gained from being an MMBEN supporter?

We hope to network with other businesses and promote business involvement in local environmental issues. We also look to benefit our businesses profitability, and that of others, through delivery of environmental improvements.
